Terms of Use

These conditions govern use of Dimmit County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means that the visitor accepts every term below. Anyone who does not accept them should discontinue use of the website.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no affiliation with a local, Texas, or federal government body. It and its advertising partners do not offer services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other Fair Credit Reporting Act purposes. It is a Dimmit County criminal-record reference, not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government connection. It does not store official criminal records and cannot retrieve records, perform an official check, or submit documents for a visitor.

Its function is to route readers to the Dimmit County Sheriff, local court clerks, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texas Public Sex Offender Registry, as well as to outside research tools. Texas government record access is governed in part by the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, while state criminal-history dissemination is addressed in Government Code Chapter 411.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, a visitor agrees not to:

  • Use automated bots, scrapers, or similar tools against the pages
  • Interfere with website operation or another person's access
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system
  • Use information to stalk, threaten, or harass a person
  • Rely on the content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Violate any applicable federal, Texas, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No information obtained here or through a linked tool may be used to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 62 warns that public sex offender registry information may not be used to injure, harass, or commit a crime. The Texas Public Sex Offender Registry supports public safety awareness, never vigilantism or unlawful blacklisting.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create consumer reports, credit reports, or background checks. Our advertising partners do not offer the linked tools for FCRA-regulated screening. Visitors may not use information from this website or those tools to:

  • Make any other decision governed by the FCRA
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a housing applicant or renter
  • Make a hiring or firing decision

A check for a regulated purpose must be obtained through the Texas Department of Public Safety or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is not legal advice. General explanations of Dimmit County records cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, expunction, or nondisclosure rule applies to one person. Consult a Texas-licensed attorney for that advice.

6. No Warranties

All website content is provided "as is." We make no promise that:

  • An outside search result will be complete or correct
  • The pages contain no error, bug, or security weakness
  • The website will remain continuously available
  • Information is complete, accurate, or current at all times

Criminal records change as charges are filed, dismissed, restricted by nondisclosure, or expunged. Gaps and delays are unavoidable. No content here is an official statement from the Sheriff, a court, TxDPS, or another government body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to sheriff and court pages, Texas agencies, legal resources, and outside services. We do not control a destination's content, availability, privacy practices, or price. Its own terms should be reviewed before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Dimmit County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, modified, distributed, or used to make derivative works without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from use of the website, including reliance on information found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by that visitor's website use or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Texas law governs these terms, including applicable provisions of the Texas Business and Commerce Code. Any dispute tied to website use must be brought in a court located in Texas.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A revised version takes effect when posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may restrict or end a visitor's access at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in force. The affected language will be adjusted only to the extent needed for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
